What Are Asphalt Shingles?

We offer reliable products from today’s top manufacturers.  Our products are primarily composed of:
  • Fibreglass core made of glass fibres that are held together with a strong resin. The fibreglass centre is strong, dependable, and  lightweight.
  • The fibreglass core is coated with asphalt.  The asphalt provides the shingle with a water-resistant material and durability from the wind.
  • The outside  is coated with ceramic granules.  The granules are available in various    colours and give added    protection from harmful UV rays from the sun.
  • Sealant strips bond the shingles together when they are layered on top of each other.

The second house has a two-toned grey architectural shingle roof. The third house has a new brown architectural shingle roof. The house is a two-storey house.

Asphalt Shingle Types

There are different types of roof shingles based on your budget and needs:
3-Tab  - These are flat shingles with consistent sized tabs.  They come in tabs of 3 and create  a slate look.    These are a popular  product  as they are affordable and offer durability and longevity.  Their flat design also makes it extra difficult for wind to get underneath and lift them up.
Architectural - Architectural shingles have thicker layers of asphalt have added durability compared to  3-tab.  They come in a wider variety of shapes, styles, and designs and provide an  aesthetic look.  While they are a greater investment  than 3-tab, they are generally more stronger and longer-lasting.  They also normally have a longer manufacturer’s warranty.
